Dr. Amaj Rahimi-Midani, is a Costa Rican–Iranian environmental scientist, entrepreneur, and global voice on the future of sustainability. As founder and Executive Director of Poseidon-AI, he is pioneering the use of artificial intelligence and IoT to revolutionize aquaculture, strengthen food security, and protect our oceans. His work has brought climate-smart technologies to communities across Asia, Latin America, and Africa—earning recognition at COP28, where Poseidon-AI was awarded as an innovative solution for water resource management. With a career spanning collaborations with the FAO, UNDP, ITU, IAEA, and UNITAR, Amaj has advised governments, trained diplomats and UN officials, and steered international projects on climate resilience, soil and water management, and ocean conservation. He is a frequent keynote speaker at global forums, from the UN General Assembly in New York to the World Conference on Animal Welfare in Beijing, and his publications in outlets like Tech Policy Press, Envoy Magazine, and The Kenya Times shape debates on ocean diplomacy, climate justice, and inclusive AI governance. Amaj is driven by a belief that technology must serve people and planet alike. An advocate for equity in AI and sustainability, he works at the nexus of science, innovation, and diplomacy to ensure that the voices of the Global South, indigenous peoples, and marginalized communities are included in shaping solutions for our collective future.
