Abdullatif AlShamsi is a Professor of Engineering and Education. Currently, he serves as the academic advisor to Her Excellency Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the American University of Sharjah and Chairperson of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq). Prof. AlShamsi held the position of President and CEO of the Higher Colleges of Technology (2015-2022) as per Federal Presidential Decree (29) for seven years. He received his Ph.D. from Duke University, USA in 1997 and received his master and Bachelor degree from Boston University. In recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning, he earned a Principal Fellow (PFHEA) status from AdvanceHE UK in 2020. Previously, Prof. AlShamsi was the Managing Director of the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) for seven years, where he established Applied Technology High Schools, Fatima College for Health Sciences, and Abu Dhabi Polytechnic. He started his career at UAE University as assistant professor, then he was appointed an Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research. Later, he founded a University-wide Internship and Work Integrated Learning. Prof. AlShamsi has more than seventy research publications in world-class scientific journals and international conferences. His latest publications series of books published in Arabic titled: The Make of Education.
