SpeakerKhaled Kabbara joined UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, over eleven years ago, where he has held various positions in government liaison, external relations, coordination, reporting, media, and public information. He has worked in UNHCR offices in Lebanon and Uganda and was part of the emergency response team for the South Sudan refugee crisis in 2016. He assumed his current role in 2021. Khaled holds a Bachelor's degree in Political and Administrative Sciences from the Lebanese University, a minor in Business Administration from the University of Balamand, and a Master's degree in International Affairs from the Lebanese American University. Since 2008, his professional experience has spanned various sectors, including academia—such as the Lebanese American University—and the public sector through his work at the Institut des Finances Basil Fuleihan – the training and documentation center of the Lebanese Ministry of Finance. He has also contributed to thinktanks and research centers such as the Middle East Strategic Studies Center. In addition, Khaled has participated in multiple initiatives and projects focused on proposing and amending laws aimed at promoting transparency, citizenship, and good governance in Lebanon. His experience also includes working with non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, youth leadership programs, and community development initiatives, where he has played an active role in advancing local development, governance, and civic engagement.
